What I learned this Summer in Jamaica WI.

This year in April 2013 I attended the funeral of my children's father and was able by the mercy of God to pray for reconciliation, healing and some deliverance to come to a family that was torn apart, and hurting from many wounds. This miracle brought about a desire to revisit Jamaica like a tourist and reconnect with many who I knew as an early Christian, and as a student in High school. .

I turned 60 this past December (12/22/2012) It was predicted to be the end of the world according to the Mayan calendar. Well, I decided to follow the suggestion of a beloved friend who encouraged me to focus on things I would like to do, and ways to take better care of myself. God must have wanted to show me as my Father, that He would give me the desires of my heart. So, after the funeral in April, I had a desire to rediscover my roots, but I did not know how I would do this. So I prayed that if God wished for me to visit Jamaica as a tourist, He would have someone invite me to visit.

To my amazement within two weeks of that prayer, I received an E-mail inviting me to Jamaica with no strings attached, no cost to me, and an open welcome to come as a tourist, to be treated as a daughter of the King. My vacation to Jamaica was made possibly by a sister in the Lord, who in obedience to Holy Spirit, invited me to come and spend my summer vacation with her. I accepted her invitation right away, as I recognized this was an answer to my bucket list of prayer requests.

The first lesson I learned from my many hand of God interventions, and God moments in Jamaica: is that God is always giving. In order to help someone experience God’s unconditional love, the Christian has to be willing to give of their resources the 3T’s (time, talents, and treasures)

The fruits that God gives to every believer they are shed abroad into our hearts: love, joy, peace gentleness, goodness, faith, self control, contained power (meekness) and long suffering. It is only by Holy Spirit’s power that these fruits will be evident in each believer and by seeking to demonstrate God’s love as we are told in

1 Corinthians 13

The Message (MSG)
3-7 If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have.
Love doesn’t strut,
Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others,
Isn’t always “me first,”
Doesn’t fly off the handle,
Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

This lesson was what I learned in Jamaica this summer. I have to be sure to guard my heart against the pull of the world, and its fleshy way of living. It’s duplicity, saying one thing but doing something else. It’s pull towards self and selfishness. If I am to do things God's way it will be unselfish and with a willing heart.

I am now very refreshed. I’m inspired and ready for the new school year. I realize that one way to not be stressed this year is to give of my self with out expecting anything in return. To plant seeds as I give of my time, talents and treasures. God will always give back to me exceedingly, abundantly, above what I could ever ask or imagine or even think.

So saints, be encourage do not be weary in doing well. Your Father who searches your heart, He knows the intentions and will always give you back, much more than you could possibly give to Him.

I want to thank my sister in Christ, who gave of her time. talent and treasures this summer. I will always see this summer in Jamaica, as one of the pivotal moments in the year of 2013
